The Kingdom of Leon is a faction in Europe 1200.
Background[]
Politics[]
The Kingdom of Leon is ruled by King Alfonso the Slobberer. By 1200, he has no rightful male heir.
The Order of Santiago is a subordinate faction of Leon, and will always aid King Alfonso in his military enterprises.
At the starting point of the game, the Kingdom of Leon is at war with the Almohad Caliphate. In the near future, Leon will also likely wage war against Kingdom of Portugal and Kingdom of Castille due to territorial proximity.

Territory[]
Kingdom of Leon is a medium-sized faction that occupies the north-western portion of the Iberian Peninsula. It shares borders with Kingdom of Castille to the east, and both the Kingdom of Portugal and the Almohad Caliphate to the south. The term "Leon" (lion) is taken from its own capital city, León, whose name itself derived from the latin term legio (as León was originally the military camp of a roman legion).
Leon's capital is the city of León, such status having being kept since the mid IX century. Its other town is Salamanca.
